The Cancéropôle also promotes interdisciplinary research projects with innovative concepts. The structuration of cancer research within the Cancéropôle geographical area of activity is facilitated by the promotion of 4 research axes:

- Translational Research- Biomarkers, imaging technologies and early phase trials
- Viral infection and Cancer
- Immunity and Cancer
In addition, the Cancéropôle has 2 priority research axes:
- Pancreatic cancer
- Crossborder actions
These research axes are linked with the development of technological platforms.
The Cancéropôle also stimulates research by launching its own call for proposal to support for example conferences on cancer research on its territory.
