Résumé

Advance directives (AD) are the possibility for any individual to express their wishes on how to be cared at the end of life, when they can no longer make the decisions themselves. In France, AD are only applicable during the end-of-life period, such as after an irrecoverable accident or at a terminal phase of a disease. It appeared for the first time in France in 2005 with the Léonetti law, which discussed matters related to the end of life.
