Résumé

By conducting interviews with eight breast cancer patients, we set out to shed light on the positive defences adopted against the disease. The use of words made it possible to locate, define and isolate the disease before creating its story: owning the disease, connecting it to others and giving meaning to its existence. One's personal entourage helps support the fight, whether on the marital, family, friendship or professional levels. The medical world makes it possible to be recognized as a partner in determining appropriate treatments. The tumour, a foreign body making good health impossible, betrayed an alliance with nature. The challenge is to build a new bridge to create a renewed alliance with the body. This involves daring to speak and daring to exist in order to approach post-cancer life with serenity. Each of these stages is brought to life by the spirituality of the women and provides them, in spite of ups and downs, the moral support that opens them to positive initiatives.
