Reims University hospital manufactures approximately 6000 bags of patient-specific pediatric parenteral nutrition admixtures. The new marketed Pechaverio, Pediaven (R), pediatric standardized parenteral nutrition solution, led us to the economic assessment of our manufacturing process. The latter was then compared to the cost of the same process reduced by 25 and 50%. if our patient-specific manufactured bags were replaced by industrial admixtures. Apparently, the industrial solutions are a little more expensive than our manufactured bags. However, some non negligible parameters have to be taken into account and, although Pediaven (R) bags are more expensive they could be of high interest for hospital pharmacies.
